Antica Ricetta Sarda
We are a small family owned business
established in 2014, and we produce artisanal almond liquor.
Our laboratory, located in Sorradile, in a village in the heart of Sardinia, keeps our traditions alive.
Our goal is to revive an ancient and traditional recipe of almond liqueur, which was lost in time and now is reborn.
We produce a “niche” product of authentic and genuine quality.
We are committed to restoring the cultivation of the almond tree in our territory and transform this local raw material in a liqueur made with organic and authentic Sardinian almonds.
Our laboratory was established in the historic center of Sorradile , a small village in the hills of the Barigadu territory.
Our process, based on an ancient recipe, includes a number of key steps:
– Preparing the raw materials;
– Infusing the almonds with the liquor over a long period of time;
– Analyzing the product;
– Packaging the different types of liqueurs;
– Drying the almonds, grinding and vacuum-packaging the aromatized almond flour.
Every part of the almond is used making this a very sustainable material.
In the village of Sorradile, a small town in the Barigadu territory, overlooking the lake “Omodeo”, traditionally, almonds are harvested to make exquisite desserts for various occasions: weddings, baptisms, and other important celebrations in the town. Women from the village would make the famous “amaretti”, the crunchy almond cookie, called “war cookies”, the “Bolognese pasta”, a Marzipan-like paste wrapped in tissue paper in the shape of bonbons, or the “almond ravioli”. Each family had its favorite dessert but the best skilled hands were seen from those who worked with the almonds for the feast of Saint Lucia, on December 13. They prepared the famous “Gatò”, a cone shaped cookie made with shredded almonds, sugar and orange peel, skillfully amalgamated with caramel syrup in an exquisite delicacy. Even today, sweets can reach a height of 80 centimeters and are traditionally sold at auctions on the occasion of the celebrations of the Saint whose proceeds are donated to the parish.
During weddings, in addition to sweets, it was traditional to offer almond liqueur – a hydro-alcoholic infusion of sweet and bitter almonds, steeped in a grappa-like brandy, called “Abbardente”, which the villagers distilled clandestinely from the grape skins and seeds left over from the wine.
Over time, the tradition of preparing flavorful, home-made specialty liqueurs was replaced by mass-produced liqueurs manufactured by large industries that, in recent years, have conquered the entire market.

the precious fruit
Almonds are the oval edible nutlike seed with which we make our liqueur. Since ancient times, they have been known
for the beneficial properties they bring both in food and cosmetics.
Nothing is lost in its production cycle: the husk is an excellent food for breeding animals; the shell, together
with the timber deriving from pruning, is an excellent biomass; the fruit and its oil are used in many products.
In our production, we strictly use natural almonds, this is fundamental for the infusion and production of our liqueur.
We are located on the main street, in Via Umberto I, in Sorradile. It will be a pleasure serving you.
